Lauren Mailliann is an American actress, entrepreneur, and former model. She was born on February 5, 1984.

She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology from where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science, Magna Cum Laude, in International Trade and Marketing. Her journey into the world of entrepreneurship began in 1996 when she created her first lemonade stand.

Lauren Maillian started out as a model in 2001 in Paris and in 2003, she worked in Argentina also as a model before she went to study at New York where she attended the aforementioned Fashion Institute.

A woman who has been blessed with so much beauty, Lauren walked down the aisle twice. Her first marriage was to Jerry Bias in 2006. Unfortunately, the union only lasted 3 years before it came to an end in divorce. Before it ended, she was blessed with two kids; Jayden who was born in 2007, and then Chloe who was born in 2009.

She raised her children from that point as a single mother. In 2020, she got married a second time to Robert Palmer a man she met in January 2017 at the New York Sports Club in Harlem.

1. She is good at being “the first”

Lauren was the youngest self-made winery owner in the states. Some sources are also of the opinion that she is the first black American to own a winery in Virginia, being the COO of Sugar leaf vineyards, the only winery owned and run by an African American in Virginia. During her time as COO, the winery became an award-winning brand until it was sold in 2011. We are not sure if her interest in the winery was influenced by her ex-husband Jerry, who was himself a vintner, what we do know however is that she did quite well with the winery.

According to her website, she was also the first Black woman to start an early-stage venture capital fund where she was a founding partner and managing director at Gen Y Capital Partners.

2. She has strong family values

Her children see her as their role model and source of inspiration while she in turn sees her parents as her source of inspiration. During an interview, she mentioned how her parents are the ones who contributed to her drive, resilience, and tenacity as a businesswoman.

3. She was honored at the white house

Sometime in 2011, Lauren was among the top 100 (under 30) entrepreneurs in the US. It is said that Lauren started a Lemonade stand at the age of 11, but officially became an entrepreneur at the age of 19. While others refer to her as a serial entrepreneur, we know that she is all of that and much more.

For those years that she played the role of both mum and dad to her lovely kids, Jayden and Chloe, she rocked the status to the best of her ability. Although she made it clear that being a single mom was not by choice, she had posted on her Instagram page on father’s day, celebrating single moms along with another young mom whom she referred to as her “near and dear”. In the post, she also referred to herself and her friend as 1000% single moms in every sense of definition.”

On another occasion, during a media event for “The Oxygen show”, Emma Johnson mentioned on her show-“Like a mother” how Lauren, being one of the panelists had taken the mic and introduced herself as a single mom. Emma had admitted that she was stunned by Lauren’s introduction of herself because in her own words “I have never heard a high profile woman lead with her unmarried moms status”.

5. She has had her share of controversial relationships

When she and her husband, Robert Palmer decided to announce their engagement, Palmer’s ex-wife Nikyta, had come up to claim that they were still married and although he had gone on to clear the air through an interview with CNN, the damage had already been done.

Nikyta had claimed that Robert asked her for a divorce which left her in shock and in that same month she discovered also that she was pregnant but sadly, she had a miscarriage, a mishap she blames on the stress she had to endure considering the divorce after hearing about his engagement. This made people have a bit of resentment for both Lauren and her new man Rob. After Robert had cleared the air, The New York times had to add some corrections to the previous article, claiming that they had misstated Roberts’ previous marital status.
