Winnie Zhong Feifei popularly known as Zhong Feifei is a 28 year old Chinese-Congolese performer. She was born on the 12th of May 1996 in Anshan, Liaoning, China. Her mother was a Chinese woman who studied Western Opera at a conservatory in China.
She moved to the Republic of Congo with her family when she was still very young. However, she and her family moved back to China after spending some time in Congo.
After a while, Zhong moved back to the Democratic Republic of Congo to finish her school before relocating to the United States of America.
Zhong had her undergraduate studies at Boston University where she studied International Relations. She also attends Johns Hopkins University.
Zhong has always been proud of her Chinese-Congolese ancestry and identifies as both Chinese and Congolese.

1. Zhong Feifei Was On A Reality Show
Feifei was called upon by the casting crew of the Chinese Idol reality TV show, Produce Camp (Chuang) 2020. She got noticed through her vlogs and was called upon to be a part of the trainees.
She had just finished her exams when she got the call to come audition. Zhong booked a flight back to Beijing, China immediately and had less than a week to practice for her auditions. She had planned on spending the Chinese New Year with her family anyways so an early trip was welcomed.
She had no prior experience in performing on stage and so was quite uncertain of what to do.
Zhong didn’t win the contest but was ranked 27 out of the 101 trainees who auditioned for the Produce Camp 2020 competition.
In the long run, Zhong has described her experience on the show as a huge turning point in her life. She never expected to have garnered as much fame as she did with the show but it was a blessing
2. She Never Thought About Being A Performer
She never saw herself as a performer of any sort. Apart from videos she used to put up on her vlog, she had no other experience as a professional singer or dancer. However, she says the fame found her and she has embraced it.
She was interested in music and dance and admitted to watching music channels always but never saw herself being an artist. She, however, never imagined she would one day be celebrated and loved like she used to do to celebrities while growing up.

3. Zhong Has Been A Victim Of Discrimination
While in school and growing up, Zhong has had to deal with all sorts of racist treatments. She initially had to deal with her schoolmates who teased her because of her curly hair and skin color. Zhong even tried to perm her hair in order to look more like her schoolmates. However, she grew up wiser and decided against trying to fit in.
She went back to her naturally curly hair and began to flaunt her hair and ancestry.
While on the Produce Camp 2020, she faced discriminatory comments because she identified as a Chinese-Congolese. Most of these comments came from Chinese people who believed that her blood was tainted by the mix of African blood.
She was a constant victim of these Netizens who continue to leave hate speeches on her posts. They often used the ‘N’ word on her.
However, Zhong has been able to deal with these discriminations with the help of loyal fans.
4. Feifei Has A Thing For Fashion And Beauty
Feifei was a part-time beauty Vogger. She has always had a huge interest in fashion and beauty.
She experienced a style revolution in 2020 and has since upgraded her fashion sense. Since Zhong became part of the fashion and entertainment industry, she began to ditch her old street-ware fashion for more colorful outfits. She says she tries to create a balance between the old her and the revamped her.
She even collaborated with Fenty Beauty for their Chinese shopping platform. The collaboration was quite tasking for Zhong but she enjoyed the project. Her team was quite supportive and having to see Rihanna was the cherry on top.

Zhong was raised by a mum who studied western Opera so it is understandable that her music taste tilts towards this.
She isn’t a regular Chinese music lover. She is more inclined to listen and vibe to songs from American and African artists.
Her favorite musical artists include the likes of Beyonce, Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, and Burna Boy.
She grew up watching music channels such as MTV and Trace Tv and so this had a huge influence on her taste in music.

7. She Released Her Single In 2020
Towards the end of 2020, Zhong released her first single titled B.U.R.N. She has described the single as an experimental project. She had a Chinese song that was supposed to be her first single but was dropped. The Chinese song was ‘too plain’ and wouldn’t have represented her perfectly.
She is gradually polishing her talent as a singer and performer as she wrote the song B.U.R.N herself. The song is a message to the world and her team supported the idea of the song.
8. Her Family Is Quite Supportive
Zhong has a very supportive family. Although she described them as people who don’t really care much about individual decisions, she admits that they support her. She is quite close to her family and travels back home to spend holidays with them
All through her journey with racism, discrimination, and her celebrity status, her family has been of great support and encouragement.
Seeing that her mum, a Chinese woman, studied western music, it is understandable that her family wouldn’t care much if she relates more to western activities.
9. Zhong Co-founded A Charity Organization
Zhong co-founded a charity organization with a friend while in school. She studied in Africa and so has the first-hand experience about the living conditions of most Africans. This experience inspired her decision to organize charity activities in order to help orphanages and struggling people.
She understood the hardship most workers underwent in order to succeed and needed to offer a voice for those in need.
She also seeks to empower the girl child especially those in war-prone areas.
Now that she is a celebrity and has great influence, she tries to use her influence to carry out more humanitarian services.
10. Zhong Feifei Is Multi-lingual
Young Zhong Feifei has achieved quite a lot in just a few years. Apart from graduating from Boston University at a young age, she has gone further to complete a Masters degree almost immediately after bagging her undergraduate degree.
In addition to this, she is a multi-lingual who speaks four languages; Chinese, English, French, and Swahili.
