Sell Your Products and Services in Nigeria

Over the years, online marketplaces have become more reliable, sustainable, and result-oriented. As such, many sellers have embraced the idea of displaying their goods and services online through different E-commerce platforms.
If you are probably still thinking of which online space to showcase your goods and services in Nigeria, here are 5 platforms you should consider.

1. Jumia

Jumia is one of the most popular online marketplaces in Nigeria that allows businesses to sell their products and services. In fact, it has been nicknamed the Nigeria Amazon making it the most visited e-commerce store in Nigeria and one of the leading platforms in Africa, operating in over a dozen countries on the continent.
Impressively, it covers a large range of categories including electronics, fashion, and home appliances. At present, Jumia also covers services, such as food delivery, travel booking, and financial services, all aimed at leveraging technology to improve the lives of people in Africa.

How To Get Started as a Seller

If you are interested in using Jumia to sell your goods and services, all you need to do is

  • Get registered on Jumia as a vendor
  • Fill in all the required information and click ‘Register Now”
  • Go through the training and follow the tutorial for new vendors
  • Add some products based on category and start selling

2. Konga

Konga is the second largest e-commerce platform in Nigeria that allows businesses to sell their products and services to customers. It has also expanded into other African countries, such as Ghana and Kenya.
Konga was founded in 2012 by Nigerian entrepreneur Sim Shagaya and started as an online store for electronics before it expanded into categories such as fashion, home appliances, food delivery, and digital payments.

How To Get Started as a Seller on Konga

  • Sign up as a seller on  Konga and register your store with a unique store URL which would require a monthly membership fee of 1000 naira for the silver plan and 2500 naira for the gold plan.
  • Post your products alongside their prices
  • Locate your seller dashboard to manage your orders, choose your preferred shipping method, and continue.

3. Jiji
Jiji is a classifieds platform that offers a wide range of products and services across different categories. The platform allows individuals and businesses to buy and sell items, as well as post job and real estate listings.
Jiji was founded in 2014 by Anton Wolyansky and Vladimir Mnogoletniy, two Russian entrepreneurs who saw an opportunity to create a classified platform in Nigeria following significant demand for online marketplaces in Africa. Jiji has long expanded its operations across different African countries, including Ghana, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Today, Jiji offers a wide range of products and services across different categories and has developed a reputation for reliability and security, which is important in a market where online fraud and scams are common. The company has also invested heavily in building its own payment and logistics infrastructure, which has helped to improve the buying and selling experience for users.

How To Get Started on Jiji

If you would love to explore this marketplace as a vendor, all you will need to do is

  • Create a seller account on Jiji’s official website
  • Fill in all the fields to describe your product and services
  • Add your products for display and wait for the official approval of Jiji
  • After the approval of your product, then wait for buyers to call or chat you up.

4. Payporte

Payporte is one of Nigeria’s favorite online retail stores that connects businesses with potential customers. It allows businesses to create a profile and list their products and services for free, and customers can search for businesses by location and category. Some of their categories include women’s and men’s fashion, shoe trends, deodorants and perfumes, mobile phones, electronics,  home appliances, and beauty & health products.
This platform was launched in 2012 but officially began its operations in Nigeria in September 2014 and has since proven to be tested, trusted, and reliable. The founder of this platform Eyo Bassey is a software developer, an entrepreneur, and GMD of Rom-Flex Group
Payporte partners with local businesses and offers them the advantage of displaying their goods and services to a wider audience. It also links them up with direct customers and offers impressive logistic coverage. It has also expanded to other African countries including Ghana, Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, and Morocco.

How To Get Started on Payporte

To become a seller on Payporte here’s all to do

  • Visit the Payporte website and create an account by clicking on the “Become a Seller” button
  • Fill in all required information and proceed
  • The next step is typing in your unique URL which has been automatically generated
  • Thereafter, sign up for the newsletter after accepting the terms and conditions
  • Create and confirm the password and submit

5. Olist Nigeria

Olist is the last on the list of online marketplaces where you can sell your products and services in Nigeria. It is a classified ads site that was launched by the opera group and anchored by several professionals.

The site was designed as an easy link for buyers and sellers after platforms like Opera Ads and Oleads were rolled out. Olist has come to stay and offer services across several categories including real estate, agriculture, autos, construction, and even job opportunities and services.

How To Register on Olist Nigeria as a Seller

Like the above platforms, one would need to first register to get started

  • The first thing to do is visit the website’s link https://olist.ng/register
  • Fill in all required information accurately and submit
  • Verify your account through a sent email
  • Structure your ads and post

How Many Days does this Platform Operate

All the listed e-commerce platforms operate every day of the week, including weekends and public holidays. However, the working days and hours for different departments and services may vary.
For example, the customer service department of an e-commerce platform may operate during different hours compared to the logistics and delivery department. Nonetheless, the website and mobile app of these platforms are available 24/7 for sellers to know when their products are being delivered.

Which of these E-commerce Platforms is the Best?

The choice of which platform is the best option for selling products or services in Nigeria depends on various factors such as the nature of the business, target audience, budget, and other specific requirements. Each platform has its strengths and weaknesses and offers different features and services that may be more or less suitable for different businesses.
All you would need to do is stick to the platform which works for you. However, based on reviews Jumia, Konga and Jiji stand a better chance compared to others. Thanks to their ever-growing audience across Africa as well as their sustainable reputation over the years.
