Aubrey Qwana was born on 2nd April 1993 in the local town of Ulundi in KwaZulu-Natal province, South Africa by his late mother Audrey Buhlebakhe and his father whose name is not known. He is currently 32 years old.

He grew up in a very religious home as his parents were pastors. So, as a child, his parents nurtured him in the ways of the church, attending the Zion Church.

The sounds of the church became one of his influences when he eventually takes up music. Although the church is unpopular among the people, his church believes in God and ancestors.

He had an education, starting from the basic level to the university level. No specific details are specifying the name of the schools he attended or the course he studied at the university.

After he graduated from the university, he worked for a short time in the public domain before music took hold of him. And his kind of music erupted and attracted a huge number of fans in South Africa.

Aubrey Qwana didn’t enjoy the love of a mother for a long time like others. He lost her at a very tender age. It must have hard for him considering the bond that male children share with their mothers.

Regrettably, she passed on to the great beyond in 2004 when he was 12. Though she is dead, he held on to her memories forever in his heart. So, it was no surprise that he honored those memories of her in 2020 with a song Ngicel’ Ubuye, translated in English means; please come back.

The song dropped in the wake of 2020 mothers’ day commemorations.

2. Aubrey Qwana Began Music As A Rapper In 2008

A good deal of many people attribute his rise to prominence as rather quick, but he started some years ago. Initially, he began music as a rapper in 2008; however, he quit. Though no reasons have been given for that, it is not unconnected to the fact that he was still trying to find afoot.

He revealed in an interview that he makes folk music (umculo wases’bayeni or amagwijo), which is sung mostly during traditional ceremonies. And combines it with modern beats based on his inspirations.

His songs have a touch of Mbaqanga, Maskandi, Arna Zion, Hip hop, and R&B. He accepts it as Afro-pop to gain recognition and awards.

5. He Almost Lost His Life In Auto-Crash

The musician almost died in a ghastly motor accident in 2019. The musician and his manager Celimpili Manyarhi were returning from Denver when his R700,000 worth of Mercedes Benz (C-class) caught fire. They were lucky to escape unhurt.

6. Attributed His Accident To WitchCraft

The musician and his manager who made out alone from the burnt car attributed the accident to witchcraft. However, he didn’t report the cash to the police neither did he get any insurance from insurance companies. Since he never insured the car.

Asides from his varying musical talents, the musician has a high dress sense. He dresses to express himself and his personality. He revealed in an interview that he prefers to wear bright colors because they make him stand out in a crowd.
