He met his wife Dinma Fortune while he was still playing for Genk. Ndidi and Dinma’s relationship lasted for 5 years before finally tying the knot in May 2019 in an all luxurious traditional and white wedding held in Abuja.
The Leicesters wife was born in Nigeria on June 19, 1996. She completed her basic education in her hometown before moving to a Nigerian university to acquire a degree in medicine. Wilfred was born on December 16 1996 to his Lagos-based Nigerian military father and trader mother. His full name is Onyinye Wilfred Ndidi. He grew up in the barracks of Ikeja Lagos. He is the first child and only boy out of three children. Ndidi recalls his childhood as struggle-filled as he recalls hawking pepper, sachet water, fruits, and groundnut to support his mother.
The now Leicester star developed immersed love for football growing up as a child. He attended command children’s school where he had the opportunity to play football as a child on sports days. His passion further grew intense and after his basic education, he wanted to make a career out of his dreams, unfortunately, his soldier father frustrated his efforts with several beatings and punishment as he considered football a waste of time.
However, his father was most times out of sight as a military man, and Ndidi being driven by passion utilized his father’s absence by joining the local club in Lagos; the Nathaniel Boys Academy where he was sighted by a scout from Genk in one of their competitions. However, his strict father was unaware of his developments until he was offered a trial at Genk and finally gained his father’s approval and support.

Ndidi after getting scouted had to travel to Genk for his 2- month test period with KRC Genk where he got adopted by his foster parents Theo Van Vlierden and his wife who considered his personality as being charming. Although Ndidi like other Nigerian players struggled in adjusting to their food, culture, language, and weather; he was greatly assisted by the Belgian couple.
He Started As a Defender Before Becoming a Milfielder Who Won the 2016 Belgian Goal of The Year
Ndidi started his career playing at a youth club as a defender at Ekosodin Stars FC in Nigeria in 2002 before moving o Nath Boys Academy in 2015. In 2015, he started his senior club career with Koninklijke Racing Club Genk (KRC Genk).
It was at Genk that his-then coach Peter Maes turned him to a midfielder who moved to score a long-range goal with the ball adjusted to be traveling at over 111km/h. The goal against Club Brugge soon added to his fame and won him the goal of the season. It was also a goal that further spawned the English Premier league to rate him as a standout for N’golo Kante’s replacement.
He Moved To Leicester City in 2017 on a Contract to Expire in 2024
Genk accepted a 17 million euros transfer deal to Leicester City on December 3, 2016, and after this was finalized, on January 5, 2017, Ndidi moved to join the English Premier League in 2017 and was signed by Leicester City to replace N’gola Kante for a bigger challenge.
Wilfred’s impressive performances have made him one of the crucial members of the Leicester team. His adaptation at Leicester was greatly aided by the presence of the Nigerian professional footballer Ahmed Musa who helped him settle down on arrival and further drove him around for away games and also to the airport during breaks on several occasions.
