Biography Of Wendie Renard

The talented football star was born Wéndèleine Thérèse Renard on July 20 1990 in the French island of Martinique. She was brought up in a happy family as the last of four kids. Unfortunately, by the time she was 8 years old, she lost her dad to lung cancer.

Wendie fell in love with football when she was a very little girl. According to her, she would always change the channel to football even when her older sisters were watching a different program and her mother would also sit and watch with her.

She began her youth carer when she was only 7 years old with Essor-Préchotain. She played with the youth team from 1997 to 2005 and then she joined Rapid Club du Lorrain with which she played until she was signed to play with the senior team of Lyon in 2006. She is now the captain of the team and has won a record 7 Champions League with the club.

As regards her international career, Wendie was called to join the under-19 team of France in 2007 and then in 2008, she started playing for the country at the Under 20 level. Her call to the senior team was in 2011, and since then, she has continued to play. She has represented France in important tournaments including the Olympics and FIFA Women’s World Cup.

1. Rendard was very close to her dad

The footballer revealed that as a little girl, she was very close to her dad. They would always tease each other and she wanted to go everywhere with him. Their only difference was that he didn’t like football. They had a close chat shortly before he died.

Wendie was sitting with her sister when the phone rang. At the time, her father was still in the hospital and she told her older sister that their father was dead. When her sister picked up the phone, she was told he had passed away.

2. She had always wanted to be a professional football player

Since she was a little girl, all that Wendie wanted to become was a professional footballer. She revealed that once in school, they were given work to write the job they wanted to do. She wrote professional footballer and flight attendant. Her teacher came and told her professional football doesn’t exist and switched the answers, but she took back her paper and wrote back her initial answer.
