Tyler Lepley is an American actor who is widely recognized as ‘Benjamin ‘Benny’ Young’ in Tyler Perry’s soap opera ‘The Haves and the Haves Nots’. He has also been featured in the 2013 movie ‘Baggage Claim’, and Slumber Party Slaughter 2. Additionally, he is a rapper and has released a couple of songs as well as featured in songs by other artists. Tyler is also a personal trainer who loves to spend time at the gym, keeping fit.

Tyler Lepley’s career picked up in 2012 and since then he has been featured in about 10 top movies. He has been proven to be a stellar actor over time but hasn’t restricted himself to just being in the movie scene.

1. Tyler Lepley’s Early Life

Tyler Lepley was born on the 24^th of March 1987 in Philadelphia and raised by his mother and stepfather. His mother, Charles Jen Dinnis is of Italian descent while his biological father’s root is traced down to Africa, precisely Jamaica. Tyler is the only child of his parents and he grew up being their loving child.

He attended Central Bucks High School West in Doylestown. However, because he was the only black-skinned kid in his school, he faced bullying. Tyler then got a scholarship to attend Kutztown University where he graduated in 2010 with a degree in criminal justice.

2. He Played Football In School

While in high school, Lepley engaged in different types of sports. He joined sporting activities as a child such as track, football, karate, and basketball. However, due to his background in boxing, he focused more on boxing.

While he played football in high school, he was known by the name ‘Tyler Dennis’. However, he suffered an injury in 2003 that threatened to end his football career. In 2004, after undergoing surgery, he returned back to the field of play.

By 2007, Lepley was in the university and still playing football as he had a football scholarship. However, he got suspended for attacking a man and breaking his jaw. Although he was reinstated into the school, his football career ended.

3. He Comes From A Boxing Family

Tyler’s extended family are made of boxers. He grew up surrounded by athletic people and so he grew up introduced to different types of training and athletics. His family whom he lived with, sleeping on the floor of the apartment for about three months after his move to Los Angeles were also into boxing.

Tyler used to box with his cousins and they even referred to themselves as ‘gym rats’. They spent a great deal of time in the boxing ring and basically just training. This, however, opened him up to other types of sports.

4. Tyler Lepleys ’s Move To Los Angeles

Upon his graduation, Tyler became a fitness trainer and would use his knowledge and experience to coach people. As a result of this, he got invited to Los Angeles to work as an Iron Fitness Gym personal trainer in Santa Monica. Tyler jumped on the offer and moved to Los Angeles.

While in Los Angeles, Tyler squatted at a family member’s house where he had to sleep on the floor. He lived with his cousins for about 3 months till he got the opportunity that broke him into the entertainment industry.

5. The Start Of Tyler Lepley’s Movie Career

Tyler’s career in the entertainment industry began a few months into his relocation to L.A from Philadelphia. While working at the gym, he came across a producer who told him that his looks and build were befitting of an actor. Lepley was then offered an opportunity to audition for a role and although he initially thought it to be a joke, he took it up and scaled it. This was the starting point of Tyler’s movie career from 2012.

6. His Take On Love And Relationships

 38 year old Tyler Lepley draws his love and relationship inspiration from his parents. He says that his parents ’ over 2 decades of marriage is the definition of love to him and he would want to have their type of relationship.

Tyler had opened up about haven dated older women and doesn’t believe that his ideal woman has a lot to do with her physical beauty. He is more concerned about having a confident woman who can think outside the box and loves to live healthily.

On his physical features, 6 feet tall Tyler Lepley has some attributes that strongly resemble that of American rapper, Drake. Judging from the haircuts to the shape of their faces, their similar light skins, and a bit of the body, you could easily confuse one for the other. Even Tyler has admitted to having been confused for Drake a few times.

8. Tyler Lepley Is Family Oriented

Tyler is the only child of his parents so it is no wonder that he loves them so much. He almost always talks about his parents and how many sacrifices they made for him. He also states that he is all about doing stuff to make them happy and dedicates his time to taking care of them.

Expanding it to his extended family, Tyler is also pretty close to his cousins as he spent some time with them heupon his move to Los Angeles. With this, it is obvious that he loves to invest and spend time with his family. In an interview with Essence, he stated that he has the best parents in the world.

9. The Rumor About Him Dating Tyler Perry

When Tyler Lepley first started off his movie career, he was accused of being gay. More interesting was the fact that he was reported to be in a gay relationship with Tyler Perry. Tyler Perry was the producer and director of the movie ‘Have and Have Nots’ and as a result of this, he shared a bond with Tyler Lepley who acted as Benny in the movie. People then mistook their bond to be something more intimate and began to spread the rumors.

Tyler, on an episode of Angela Yee, Gigi Maguire, and Lore’l’s podcast, cleared the air about the accusations. He stated that not only was he not in a relationship with Tyler Perry, he was also not gay and he was in a relationship with a woman with whom he shares a son. Lepley also stated that Tyler Perry wasn’t gay either.

As of October 27^th, 2021, Tyler Lepley announced officially, that he was in a relationship with Model Miracle Watts. The couple had previously teased their fans and followers with dating speculations but never really confirmed. Tyler was previously romantically involved with his Hollywood agent April King. Tyler and April were even engaged and she is the mother of his two kids, unfortunately, they eventually broke up.

Finally, on Wednesday the 27^th of October Tyler and Miracle confirmed that they were dating on their separate Instagram handles when Tyler shared a photo of them together in a lounge. Similarly, the model Miracle shared the same photo on her own Instagram handle and captioned it ‘6.14.21’. Miracle Watt was however previously linked with Diddy although they did not confirm if they shared a romantic relationship.
