As ordered by the court during the divorce proceeding, Edgerton was to pay monthly child support. However, he defaulted and piled up a debt of about $32,000 because he had not been making full payments. She also stated that on some months, the athlete did not pay up as expected.
Hartwell Edgerton once requested a reduction of the money claiming to have other children to take care of. He also insisted that his ex-wife was making a lot of money for herself and did not need that much from him.
