Gbemisola Anthonia Adefuye mostly known as Toni Tones is an award-winning photographer and celebrity actress in the Nigerian entertainment industry. She is most recognized for her role as Enoila Salami in the movie “king of boys” among other enthralling tv-series and movies.

It is worthy to note that, Toni is the daughter of a third republic Nigerian politician and pastor. However, her stance in the entertainment world keeps her outside his shadow.

The 39 years old was known as a photographer and musician before switching into acting and has kept her glam on the screen since then. Here is all you should know about the actress.

Interesting Facts About Toni Tones

1. Who Is Toni Tones?

Toni Tones was born Gbemisola Anthonia Adefuya on July 20, 1985. She is the youngest of five children born to her parents.

She started her educational pursuit at Our Lady of Apostle Primary School in Lagos and after that, she moved to Queen’s College Lagos State for her secondary studies. The reputable college is known to have produced celebrated individuals like award-winning writer Sefi Atta, gospel singer Lara George, as well as the first female vice-chancellor in Nigeria, and the first female judge in the country; Grace Alele-Williams and Modupe Omo-Eboh respectively.

From there, the entertainer left the shores of the country to the United Kingdom where she studied Economics and Marketing at the University of Lancaster. The King of Boys Actress subsequently went to Relativity film school in Los Angeles.

2. The Actress Was Mostly Recognised as a Photographer Before She Ventured Into Acting

The 39 years old isn’t only versatile but also talented. When she returned to Nigeria after College, Toni started off as a photographer in 2009 for the D’bang reality tv show “Koko Mansion”. As a photographer, she has worked with top magazines like Genevieve, FAB, MADE, Sound City, Vanguard’s Allure, and many more. Toni covered for the likes of Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Banky W, Wizkid, Omawumi, Waje to mention a few.

3. She Had a Brief Career in Music 

In 2011, Toni ventured into music and released her first official single in 2013 titled “I Know What You Like”. The song was produced by Baby fresh under Mavin Records. Moreso, in 2016 she released a song with the Nigerian singer and rapper Cynthia Morgan Titled “Hey Boy”.  Other songs by Toni Tones  include:

In 2021, she released an EP “Tins I Love.” The work enjoyed fair play amongst her fans and generous airplay on radio. According to her, she worked on the EP for 2 years and gave in her all.

4. Toni Tones Started Acting in 2015

Gbemi Anthonia Adefuye showed another side of her talent in 2015 when she made her acting debut. Although she was 30 at the time she started, acting was always in the cards for her, it just so happened that photography and music careers came first.

She made her first appearance as “Halima” in the web series ‘Gidi Culture” which followed up with roles such as “It’s Her Day”, “Head over Heels” and a host of others. Also, Toni’s role as the younger Eniola Salami in the movie “King of Boys” blew away expectations as she lit up the screen with her never seen acting potential and earned herself a nomination for “Best Supporting Actress”.

She also starred in a major role in  Funke Akindele’s comedy-drama “Your Excellency” and ‘The Smart Money Woman”.

After starring in many movies over the years, one role Toni Tones calls exhausting and challenging is acting as the Younger Eniola Salami In King of Boys. The actress had to put on 40 pounds to play as the younger character of Sola. Also, she had to study the character’s older version for two months and completely imitate her mannerism and caught more fluent in the Yoruba language. She also made it known that she sustained physical and mental injuries while filming the movie.

5. Who Is She Dating?

According to reports, the actress has been dating since 2020. However, Toni tries to keep her love life private. Her boyfriend is yet to be identified as she doesn’t post pictures of him. In 2020, Toni took to her Twitter page to say that “My boyfriend has gone above and beyond for me in every way since we got together”. Also, he surprised her on valentines day by paying for a whole movie theatre.

The actress has a differing view of relationships. She claims that women don’t necessarily have to follow the norms set for relationships. In her opinion, “Women don’t need to get married to have kids or wait until marriage to have sex”. She believes women have the right to do whatever they want and should be in charge of their bodies.

6. Her Father Is a Senator

Gbemisola Anthonia Adefuya has earned a place in Nigerian entertainment having moved from photography to music and acting, but she originally came from a political family. Toni Tones is the last daughter of Senator Anthony Adefuye.

As stated, Senator Anthony Adefuye is a third republic senator who was one of those who fought against the military junta of Nigeria’s former head of state, Sani Abacha. Toni’s father is currently a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress and a close confidante of President Muhammadu Buhari. He is also a well-accomplished Engineer, Businessman, and renowned humanitarian.

7. How Rich Is Toni Tones?

The Actress is one of the most successful in the entertainment industry. Toni makes her money primarily from acting, music, and photography. However, she has other streams of income as she was a model for Durovo at 14.

She isn’t all about her father’s wealth as a senator but has also made a name for herself.  Her exact net worth is still under review but it is speculated to be around $2 million.
