Simphiwe Ngema- Early Life, Career, Love Life, 5 Facts Worth Knowing

The beautiful South African actress, singer, and choreographer, Simphiwe Ngema popularly known as Mvuli started her career in show business at a young age. She was previously married to Dumi Masilela but he passed shortly after their traditional marriage.

Simphiwe Ngema channeled her grief into her career and used her art to cope with her emotions. She has featured in quite a number of South African movies but she rose to prominence on the SABC soap opera Muvhango where she portrayed the character Thuli.

Simphiwe Ngema’s Early Life and Background

The beautiful South African actress was born on August 29, 1989, in Klipsruit, Soweto in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is the middle child in a family of three children. She grew up with her two sisters in Zuurbekom where her father founded a church. Both of her parents are said to be pastors.

Simphiwe Ngema attended a combined school in Sandton, Johannesburg- Chinese Kuo Ting School. She worked as a receptionist before going to study Journalism at Boston Media House and graduated in 2010.

Simphiwe Ngema began her career in high school

Ngema started exhibiting her acting skills in high school. While in high school, she decided to audition for a role in Lebohang Morake’s stage adaptation of Disney’s 1994 American musical animation “The Lion King”.

Even though she did not get the role, she was later called to audition for another play by Duma Ka Ndlovu The Game. Ngema got the role and after the series ended she went back to complete her studies.

Between 2008 and 2009, Ngema auditioned for a role in Muvhango. Her appearance on the show apparently opened more doors for her. The show was premiered in 1999 and it became the first TV series with Venda as the primary language. Ngema left the show in 2015 and her character was written off.

In 2017, the actress was featured in the Vuzu reality live show Preachers Kids. She featured as the second daughter of Given Ngema. The series was an 8-part series with some of the country’s prominent preacher’s kids.

In 2018, Ngema debuted in the Queen as the Slay Queen Buble. Aside from acting, Ngema founded a company called Still We Rise Trading together with her sister.

The company provides services such as Project and events management, software and stationery supplies, and a few other things.

Is she married?

After Simphiwe Ngema left Muvhango in 2015, rumors about her relationship with an actor called Dumi Masilela started going around. In 2017, the two actors exchanged marital vows in a traditional ceremony in May.

Sadly, on August 2, 2017, barely after three months of marriage, Ngema lost her husband. He was involved in a car hijacking together with a friend. The hijackers shot at his car and he sustained several injuries. Dumi Masiela died while in the hospital at the age of 29.

After Simphiwe’s late husband’s memorial service, she was rumored to be 10 weeks pregnant but the news was later dismissed by Masiela’s family.

Simphiwe Ngema had her worse nightmare in 2017 after she lost her husband at the age of 28. The actress opened up about the pain and all she went through after she lost her husband.

She shared with podcaster Macgyver MacG Mukwevho on Podcast and chill about how her faith in God and her music helped her cope with the grief of losing her husband a few months after marriage.

Ngema has released her own songs too. She released a song titled Goodbye Eternal Crush in honor of her husband in 2019.

According to her Instagram, she would be releasing another song titled I Love Me More on November 12, 2021.

2. Simphiwe Ngema produced her late husband’s music posthumously

Ngema handled the death of her husband quite well. She decided to produce a song her husband was working on before his sudden demise. The music was compiled into an album-Eternal Crush. The album was released on 6th December 2018 with the following songs:

• Smomoza

3. She share a son with Tino Chinayi 

On the 23rd of June 2020, the actress gave birth to a baby boy named Tiyani Kemorena Michael Chinyani. The father of her son is Tino Chinayi whom she started dating in 2020 almost three years after she lost her husband.

Tino Chinayi is a Zimbabwean actor and TV personality. The news of their breakup came a few weeks after the couple shared beautiful birthday messages with each other on social media.

Despite the break-up, the former couple said they would still be friends and raise their son together.
