Shola Allyson is a multitalented Nigerian soul, folk, and gospel artist and songwriter who came to the limelight after her song Eji Owuro became a hit song in 2003. The song was used as the background song for the movie Eji Owuro.
The gospel artist who predominantly sings in Yoruba has revealed that her songs are inspired by her personal life experiences which range from sexual abuses to living in guilt. She uses her songs to proclaim God’s love, mercy, and grace towards everyone.

Shola Allyson was born Olusola Allyson in Ikorodu Lagos state in 1970. She celebrates her birthday on 24 September every year.
She obtained her basic education from the Anglican Primary School and completed her high school education at the Shams-el-deen Grammar School, Ikorodu. She proceeded to the Government Technical College, Agidingbi, Ikeja, and obtained an NBTE Certificate in Business Studies. Shola worked for a while with her NBTE Certificate and further to the Polytechnic of Ibadan where she obtained a Higher National Diploma where she studied Music technology.
2. She Was Born into a Muslim Family
One will easily think Shola is from a Christian background following her strong stance as a gospel singer. However, Shola was born and brought up in a Muslim family, at Ikorodu Lagos State. Shola’s conversion to Christianity happened during her teenage years. After singing as a backup singer in the church at the early age of 13, Shola’s passion for music grew even more. When she graduated from the polytechnic, she took up the mic and this time made a career from it. The 53 years old started off as a backup singer with the likes of Yinka Ayefele, Daddy Showkey, Obesere, Pasuma, and a host of others and was part of the Kayode Olajide band.
In 2003, while on transit, Shola started conversing with someone who turned out to be a scriptwriter. The said man also told her about his ongoing film shoot titled Orekewala. Their conversations yielded results when she was called to sing a soundtrack for the film whose title was changed to Eji Owuro.
After the film production, Shola decided to release her first album Eji Ewuro which became a sensational hit song and officially welcomed her into the entertainment world.

In an Interview, Shola outrightly blames her mother for not protecting her from the prying eyes of men while in primary school. She recounts how several men molested her including her uncles and her mother never noticed because she was focused on her business. Shola also revealed that her life experiences shaped her into who she has become today.

The gospel artist made a shocking revelation at a program tagged Come and See which was organized by Prophet Segun Ayingbodo the founder of Grace Outreach Ministries, Akure in honor of his wife’s 50th birthday.

The gospel singer made it known that her talent and hard work paved way for her. She also narrated the challenges she encountered when she got into the industry but her commitment has kept her on the top.
