Shahrazad Ali was born on the 27th of April 1954 in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. There is little information regarding her family background and parents. Reports revealed she lost both parents very early in life. She is currently 70 years old.
As regards her racial status, she is an American by nationality who belongs to the African-American black community. The retired author grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she started her writing career.
She had a sound educational background. There is no record of her high school days, but the old writer attended two universities; Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio, and then Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia from.
The writer held various writing and editorial positions at multiple media outfits in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a news and feature editor at Cincinnati Call Newspaper and Cincinnati Post.

Reports revealed the writer married twice. Her first marriage to Solomon Ali took place on 17 August 1965. The marriage produced 3 children; Pamela Ali, Hasan Ali, and Fatima Ali. Sadly, she lost him in 1985, 20 years after their marriage.
She married for the second time to a veteran US Navy personnel Yahaya. The year of the marriage is not known but it, unfortunately, came to an end in 2013 after Yahaya died from lung cancer.
