Sfiso Ncwane was a South African gospel singer, songwriter, and media personality. Though his debut album, Vulamasango brought him to the limelight, he remains a source of controversy in death. While his life was not hidden from the media lights, his death has made people talk using the microscope.

Sfiso Ncwane was born on 21 April 1979 in Port Shepstone South Africa. His parents are not well known but his aunt raised him because his mother could not do so. He was 37 at the time of his death.
His interest in music started while he was still a little boy growing up with his aunt. Right from the age of 8, Sfiso started singing in the choir in his local church in Mthwalume.
It was while in the choir that he learned how to play instruments like Keyboards, drums, and guitar. From the age of 10, he started singing gospel songs. All of these he did without any formal training. The attraction that will bring others to him started from the invitations he got from other churches. He also got to sing at weddings and funerals.
His first album, Vulamasango means Open doors and indeed this played out for him. The album opened doors for him and brought him to the limelight. His next album, Makadunyiswe(May He be praised) took up from the success of the first. It was another well-received album by music lovers.
However, his third album, Inombolo Yasezulwini made his permanent mark on the charts. This time around he had collaborations with other well-known names in the industry. He featured Vuyo Mokoena and Zodwa Twecu . The album remains one of the best-selling gospel albums in South Africa.
From experience of how good collaborations can be, he featured Rebecca Malope and others in his next album Isiphephelo Sami in 2006.
The year 2003 came with the answers to many people’s prayers. TYestimonies from his Umkhueleko album which means Prayer proved this point. Many people that listened to the album claimed it changed their lives.
His second album was produced by Tshepo Ndzimande under the Bula Music records but he shifted production of later albums to CCP records. Sfiso’s debut album, Baba Ngiyavuma with his label, Sfiso Ncwane Productions skyrocketed in sales. Over 70 thousand units of it were released. This confirmed his success as a gospel artist.

Sfiso Ncwane Marriage To Ayanda Nciwane
He found his life partner in the person of Ayanda. She is an actress, singer, and businesswoman. Sfiso and Ayanda met when she was 18 years old and from then they remained together for 15 years.
They tied the knot in 2002 at the time he was launching his career. They had two children together with Ayanda. Sfiso on the other hand had four other children from previous relationships.
What Caused The Death Of Sfiso Ncwane?
For a man who did so much within the period of two decades of his career, it is left for his music to live in the hearts of many. His death was confirmed on December 5, 2016, in Johannesburg. Sfiso died on the same as Nelson Mandela but in different years.
His death was caused by kidney failure. On December 4, 2016, he was rushed to the intensive care unit after complaining of weakness. The diagnosis later showed he was suffering from failed kidneys.
Allegations that came up after his death questioned the original report. The new rumors that started going around stated his death may not have been due to natural causes. It was alleged that he was poisoned.
He wanted to be buried at Heroes Acre in Mayville as per his will instruction. His body was laid to rest at Lala Kahle Cemetry, Hillcrest, Durban.

Outside of his marriage, Sfiso had four other children. However, the notice submitted by his wife after his death submitted two children, Umawenzokuhle Hubani Ncwane and Ngcweti Makadunyiswe Ncwane.
He may not have been hiding these children. Sources say Ayanda was aware of his other children but pretended and lied to the court about their existence.
One of his baby mamas, Pinky is the mother of Sduduzo. She claims her son is surviving on social grants and needs to be taken care of by his father’s estate.

2. His Wife Was Cast Real Housewives of Durban
Known for her remarkable good looks, she is putting it into her own reality show. Ayanda Ncwane starred in the Real Housewives of the Durban. Her time on the show was lively.
She later quit the show while production of the second season was about to start. Many have come up with reasons for her quitting but none is certain. Some claim she wanted to protect her image and that of her late husband.
3. He Bought A Car Of R1.8 Million For Francis Anosike
Sfiso Ncwane once bought a V8 AMG Mercedes-Benz car for Rev. Frank Anosike of Rock of Victory ministries. He bought it in appreciation of the Rev praying for him. When he suffered a heart attack, it was the Reverend’s prayers that saved his life.
4. Did His Mother Go To Bed On Empty Stomach?
Controversies started surfacing when comments allegedly made by his mother, Fikile Ncwane became public. His mother claimed to go to bed hungry while her son bought cars for others.
Speaking out against it, he said he always took care of her and he built a house for her. Sfiso also claimed that his wife did not scold him anytime his mother asked for money.
5. He Was The First Gospel Artist To Perform On Live AMP
In June of 2013, Sfiso performed his Hands Up on SABC 1 Live Amp to the admiration of some fans. Many of his followers felt the song was a hip-hop song.
He performed the song on SABC 3 weekend in October of the same year. It made him the first gospel musician to sing on the Live Amp.
