It was a decision that was overdue as she had been dealing with issues of her sexuality. Ryan was openly gay for a year and a half before she finally summoned the courage to come out of the closet.

4. Her Twin Brother was Diagnosed with autism at the Age of Three

Right from the age of three, Ryan’s twin brother, Rodney Jr. was diagnosed with autism. Thankfully, Rodney Peete Jr. grew up into an active member of the family. Together with his mother, he is an autism advocate and a member of The Speech and Language Therapy Center in Los Angeles.

He works at the clubhouse of the Dodgers while aspiring to be a rap artist.

Peete’s career started when he played collegiate at the University of Southern California before he was drafted in the sixth round of the 1989 NFL draft. He recorded a career-high of 73.3 passing rates at 16, 338 yards while he played a total of 104 games.

He chose to retire after he was released for salary cap issues in 2005. If he had re-signed with the Panthers, Rodney would be doing so at a lower salary.

8. Her mother almost Walked out of her Marriage at some point

There was a time that Holly considered walking away from her marriage. At the time the marriage was 12 years old. One of the reasons for such pressure was her son’s autism diagnosis.

After the diagnosis, her husband and mother did not immediately come to terms with the reality and kept on holding out in the hope that the diagnosis will change.

She threatened to leave her marriage as an ultimatum for them to come to terms with Ryan’s twin brother’s diagnosis. In the end, they gave in and his intervention started.

9. Ryan’s Parents Started the HollyRod foundation after the death of her Grandfather

Ryan’s maternal grandfather, Matt Robinson was the original Mr. Gordon Robinson on Sesame Street. Holly recalls mixing up her lines while addressing her father in the show.

He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at the young age of 46 and died in 2002. After his passing away, her parents wanted to give back to society as a memorial to Robinson who had died of Parkinson’s disease. They started their foundation to help others who were battling the disease.
