1. He was born in France but of Algerian Descent

Mahrez traces his origin to the country of his father’s birth in Algeria. Though born in Sarcelles an outskirt of Paris, France, on February 21st, 1991, he is proud of his heritage.

His father, Ahmed played football in Algeria while his mother is of Algerian and Moroccan descent. Mahrez spent most of his childhood holidays in Algeria.
