It was in Douala, Cameroon, that Pascal Siakam was born on April 2, 1994. Currently 31 years old, he was the fourth child of his parents, Tchamo Siakam and Victoire Siakam. His father, who once worked for a local transit company, was also a local politician who was the mayor of Makenene.
Pascal was brought up in Cameroon alongside his three brothers in a very healthy environment.
2. His father wanted him to be a priest
While growing up as a devout catholic, the initial hopes of Pascal’s father were that his youngest son was going to represent the family in the catholic faith by becoming a priest.
Tchamo sent his son to St. Andrew’s Seminary in Bafia at age 11, in the hope that he would fulfill his dreams. This was not to be, as by the time the kid was 15, Pascal decided he no longer wanted to become a priest.

While growing up, both his father and siblings were in love with basketball, but he was never drawn to it, even though his father tried to encourage him to play.

Siakam did not get to start playing organized basketball until he was almost 18 years old, unlike his older siblings, who had all won scholarships with NCAA Division I colleges.
He relocated to the United States at 18 and attended God’s Academy in Lewisville, Texas, for his high school education.
From there, he moved to New Mexico State University, playing his collegiate basketball for New Mexico State from 2014 to 2016 when he entered the NBA draft and was selected in the first round by the Toronto Raptors, with which he won the NBA Championship 3 years later. By the time he left the team in 2024, he had already made 3 NBA All-Stars. He currently plays for the Indiana Pacers.
