The beautiful Nigerian actress, filmmaker, director and scriptwriter Omoni Oboli had her first movie role in Bitter Encounter (1996). She has starred in several blockbuster Nigerian films and has worked with some of the best actors and producers in the movie industry. Oboli decided to start producing her own movies after she took a hiatus, completed her education and got married.

Omoni Oboli is also known for her charity works in the country especially Lagos, Nigeria. She has continued to use her position in society to help the less privileged women and children in her community. Aside from that, Omoni Oboli has won several awards and her works have been recognized and nominated several times.

1. Omoni Oboli is a descendant of Mosogar

The talented filmmaker and actress were born in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria on 22 April 1978. She is said to be a descendant of the famous Mosogar kingdom in Delta State, Nigeria. She attended the University of Benin and studied Foreign Languages majoring in French. She graduated with a second-class upper division. Oboli also attended the New York Film Academy.

2. She made her acting debut in 1996

Omoni Oboli made her career debut with her first movie role in Bitter Encounter (1996). She played lead roles in three major movies subsequently; Not My Will, Destined To Die and Another Campus. She has co-produced several movies among which are Wives on Strike and The Rivals. She has played lead roles in films such as The Figurine (2009), Anchor Baby (2010), Being Mrs Elliot and several others.

3. She has been awarded and nominated for severally awards

Omoni Oboli’s movie, The Rivals was a movie she co-produced with her friend and it won the prize for Best International Drama at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. The movie was the first Nigerian movie to be premiered and it got a 3-star rating out of the 4 judges at the festival. Personally, she has won several awards and was the first Nollywood actress to win the Best Actress in two international festivals in 2010.

She won the awards at the Harlem International Film Festival and the Los Angeles Movie Awards for her role in the movie, Anchor Baby. At the 2011 African Movie Academy Awards, she was also nominated for the Best Actress in a leading role. She got a big win in 2014 when she won the Big Screen Actress of the Year Award at the 2014 ELOY Awards for her movie Mrs Elliot. Omoni Oboli was awarded the Sun Nollywood Personality of the Year in 2015.

4. The actress has been married for nearly 21 years now

Omoni Oboli got married to Nnamdi Oboli on October 28, 2000, after her husband proposed to her. At that time, the actress was 21 years old while her lover was 29. Their union has been blessed with three handsome boys, Gozi, Chizi and Tobe. Their marriage has been described as one of the most scandal-free celebrity marriages in recent times. Nnamdi Oboli is an optometrist and also the co-founder and managing director of Dioni Visions limited. He founded the company with his wife to render eye care services and entertainment.

5. Her husband is also a movie producer

Oboli’s husband is also a movie producer. He has co-produced several award-winning Nollywood movies with his beautiful wife. He also manages his wife’s career. Nnamdi Oboli has written and spoken on marriage and relationships severally as a life coach.

6. Her family is often seen in online skits

Omoni Oboli and her lovely family seem to be always happy and having fun. They are fond of sharing skits online which has earned them the admiration of their fans and colleagues. Their recent video was posted when Nnamdi Oboli turned 50. Mr Oboli was seen in the video serving impressive dance moves with his wife and kids.

7. Omoni Oboli has worked with prominent entertainers

The gorgeous Nigerian actress and producer, Omoni Oboli has been doing incredible work in Nollywood. She has worked with other prominent stars like Desmond Elliot, Olu Jacobs, Joke Silva, Ramsey Nouah among others.

8. She was accused of copyright infringement

Oboli starred in the movie Okafor’s Law that was premiered on 24 March 2017. The movie could not be screened at the due date due to a court injunction. Omoni Oboli was accused of copyright infringement by Jude Idada. The latter claimed he wrote part of the script for Okafor’s Law. The movie was eventually released on March 31, 2017.

9. She has a charity foundation

Omoni Oboli started her charity organization, The Omoni Oboli Foundation help people especially women and children. The foundation has done several projects including feeding street children in Lagos, feeding and giving over two hundred poor and disadvantaged children gifts at Delta Steel complex, Aladja.

10. She is active on social media

She has an Instagram account where she shares posts about a lot of amazing things. She has huge followership of over 3.2 million on the platform. On Twitter, she has 276k followers while on Facebook she has 347302 likes on her page.

Oboli obviously has an impressive height and a good body which she tries to maintain with her constant workout sessions and weight loss program. Even though her height and weight are not available right now, it is safe to say the actress is a little above average.

Omoni Oboli has built her career and has earned quite a lot from it. Even though her net worth has not been revealed yet, there are speculations that she has a net worth that is estimated at $400,000. What is known is that she has made a fortune out of her career and other endorsement deals.
