He was born on 14th April 1991 in Les Ulis, Essonne, France to Malian parents. Marega is secretive, he doesn’t like giving out details of his private life.

Career History of Moussa Marega
Marega played started playing professional club football in 2012. He began his early club career in France with clubs such as Evry FC, Vendee Poire-sur-Vie, and Amiens.
In 2014 he joined the Tunisian club Esperance, however, he didn’t feature in a single game for the club. So, he left the club in 2015 and transferred to Maritimo of Primeira Liga in Portugal.
His Stint At FC Porto And Journey to Al Hilal
A year later, FC Porto signed him alongside his teammate and goalkeeper Jose Sa from Maritimo. His buyout clause was set at €40 million by the club. The contract would allow him and Sa to play for the club until 2020.
His debut season at the club wasn’t spectacular enough. He only played 13 games and was mostly used as a substitute. A few Porto fans criticized his dismal performance that he had to take mental training to boost his mental strength.
To build his skill and get more game time, he was sent on loan to Vitoria de Guimaraes for the 2016/17 season. After spending a year on loan, he returned to Porto for the 2017/18 season.
Back at Porto, he became part of a trio of attackers with fellow African players; Vincent Aboubakar and Yacine Brahimi. He allegedly attracted the interest of EPL clubs Manchester United and Chelsea in January 2018 after netting 14 goals in 14 starts.
And his brilliant performances for the club helped them to a first league title in 5 years. He became the club’s leading goal scorer and was named Porto’s best player of the year in November 2018.
He was involved in a racial incident during a 2020 league match away to Vitoria. After netting the winning goal for Porto, he gave the home fans the middle finger for racially abusing him.

Following the expiration of his contract with FC Porto, he joined Al Hilal on 10th May 2021 on a free transfer.
National Team Career
Marega made his first appearance for the Malians in a friendly match against Gabon on 25th March 2015. He registered his first international goal in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match win over Benin.
Subsequently, he was named in the squad that represented Mali at the main event in Gabon. He was also part of the team that played in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
