The love story between the duo first started in 2017 when Somizi Mhlongo and Mohale Motaung first met by accident at Somizi’s Dominoes: Unbreakable Spirit – The Somizi Mhlongo Story book signing in Johannesburg. According to the entertainer, the moment they met, they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together.
After dating for close to 2 years, they sealed their relationship traditionally in 2019. This was followed by a white wedding in 2020. Unfortunately, after a couple of months, gossips started flying around that once the happy couple is having serious issues in the marriage.
At the beginning of 2020, his husband revealed that their plan to have a third wedding celebration in Italy has been put off due to the Covid-19 pandemic and travel restrictions. The following year, the couple reportedly said that they were not allowed to enjoy their marriage in peace because of incessant reports about their troubled relationship. At the time, they said they were still very much married and deeply in love.
That was not to be, as all that changed. The pair who have been known to always brandish their relationship on social media with romantic and catchy idioms suddenly stopped posting about it. It was said that his husband first unfollowed him on Instagram.

Mohale reportedly put the rumors about their rocky marriage to rest when he accused his husband of infidelity and domestic abuse. He made the claims in an audio recording with the producers of Living the Dream with Somizi, according to a report by Sunday World. On the domestic abuse issue, some reports revealed Somizi tried to kill Mohale with a kitchen knife and hit him with his car while he tried to escape.
It was displeasing to him when the whole drama was revealed to the public. He said it was never his intention to make public details of his marriage issues nor his intention to bring disrepute to his husband’s image. The actor went on to say that he trusted the person he had the conversation with, and didn’t expect it will be divulged for any material gain.
Consequently, Phil Mphela responded to the allegations on behalf of Somizi by releasing it on social media in which he referred to Mohale as Somizi’s ‘estranged husband’. According to him, the allegations were weighty, and so the matter was referred to Somizi’s legal team who are well prepared to handle it.
Also, he denied the allegations of physically and emotionally abusing Mohale. As it stands, his lawyers are currently handling the case. No one knows when it will be finalized.

He was born to parents Sechaba and Lebo Motaung on 8th July 1995 in Kibler Park, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. He was raised alongside his two sisters; Palesa Kwanaite and Motheo Motaung. He is currently 29 years old.
