Michael Misick is a Turks and Caicos Islands politicians who once served as the chief minister of the Islands as well as its first Premier. It was on 2 February 1966 that the politician was born as Michael Eugene Misick in Bottle Creek, North Caicos to his parents, Jane Misick and Charles Misick. He was brought up as one among 12 siblings.
As regards his education, he went to North Caicos and then he moved on to Turks and Caicos High School (Helena Jones Robinson High School). He also got educated at the Miami Lakes Technical Institute from where he graduated with a certificate in Business Studies and then the University of Buckingham from where he studied law, making him a Barrister at Law of England and Wales as well as an Attorney at Law of Turks and Caicos Islands.
After he was through with his education, Michael Misick first worked with Prestigious Properties Ltd. as a sales manager before he was later made the managing director of the company. He also became chairman and CEO of Paramount Group of Companies.
A Look at his political career
Misick seemed to be automatically drawn to politics after he was raised watching his father who became a Member of Parliament in the 1960s and 1970s. In 1991, he decided to also give politics a shot. This landed him in a place as the Legislative Council after he was elected. He became the Minister of Tourism, Transportation and Communications. By 1995, he was re-elected.
Michael Misick got elected as the leader of the then opposition PNP in 2002 and with that, he succeeded his brother, Charles Washington Misick who previously held the position. His rise continued in 2003 when he led his party to a successful general election that resulted in him being sworn in as Chief Minister of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
He held that position until 2006 when he became the Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands until 2009 when he was forced to resign as a result of some scandals he got enmeshed in.
The Fall of Michael Misick
The fall of the politician first began in 2007 when he was accused of raping an American woman who accused him of drugging and raping her. The anonymous woman filed a suit against Masick in filed Miami-Dade Circuit Court, alleging that an executive from Miami’s Nikki Beach club purposely sent her to the home of the then Turks and Caicos Premier Michael Misick, knowing the intentions of the premier to drug and rape her in order to gain some favours from his administration.
Although the case of the said woman was later investigated by both the FBI and Turks and Caicos authorities before it was dropped, it still did not stop Masick from later kissing the dust as a result of his involvement in some corruption cases.
In 2008, questions were raised on the multi-million dollar fortune he was able to build in less than five years having only declared an asset of $50,000 (£25,000) in 2003. It was alleged that he made his illegal wealth from selling off Crown land. Following the allegations, a Commission of Enquiry was set up by the Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands Richard Tauwhare.
Although he denied any wrongdoing, the commission reported that there were signs of corruption. He resigned on March 29 2009 and in 2011, his assets were frozen. He would be arrested by the Interpol in Brazil and returned to the Island t answer for his alleged crimes.
Although he made an attempt to return to politics in 2016, Misick lost by a huge margin when he contested an at-large candidate in the general elections in Turks & Caicos as an independent.
Misick Was Married To American Actress, LisaRaye McCoy
In 2006, Michael Misick got married to American actress, model, and businesswoman, LisaRaye McCoy. It was the second for Lisa who was previously married to Tony Martin from 1992 to 1994.
Although it has not been revealed how Lisa and Michael met, it is known that he asked her to marry him only after three months of meeting. Their lavish wedding was attended by only 300 guests and after that, they had a honeymoon that lasted three weeks across Jerusalem, Bali and Dubai.
By 2008, it was clear that there was trouble in the marriage with allegations of assault on the path of both of them. There were also allegations of infidelity as McCoy who was referred to as the First Lady of Turks and Caicos was allegedly having an affair with Gary Payton.

On October 2 Michael Misick lost his mother, Mary Jane Misick who was 94 at the time. Her death was as a result of a massive stroke she suffered. She complained of stomach pain before she was rushed to a local hospital where she died.
