Jomarlie Moïse is one of the three children of the slain Haitian president Jovenel Moise and his wife Martine Moise. Her father was assassinated on July 7, 2021, while her mother was left severely injured during the attack on their private residence.
The Haitian was reportedly the only child present during the attack and thankfully, she was unharmed.

Born December 27, Jojo as is fondly called is said to be in her mid-twenties by now. She was raised together with her two brothers, Joverlein and Jovenel Jr. Their parents tried to keep them out of the public eye but her brothers are reportedly active on social media.
However, her father Jovenel Moïse was the son of a mechanic and farmer Etienne, and Lucia Bruno, a seamstress. Jormarlie’s father attended the Don Durelin National School, the Lycee Toussaint Louverture, and also the cultural center of the Collège Canado-Haïtien.
Her mother on the hand was raised in Port-au-Prince where she attended the College of Roger Anglade and also Quisqueya University.
Her Parents were Married for 25 Years
Jomarlie Moïse’s parents were said to be childhood sweethearts and classmates before they tied the knot in 1996. Her parents both met at Quisqueya University while they were studying there. The two were married for more than two decades until the assassination of the former Haitian president in 2021.
After her parents married, they went to build their family in Port-de-Paix and also help develop the rural area.
Jomarlie Moïse’s Father was the 58th President of Haiti
Before he was sworn in as the 58th president, Jovenel Moise was said to be a successful businessman. He was also known as a Banana man because of his successful banana exportation business. He was also the founder of the public-private project Agritrans, which was helping the country export banana to Europe.
Prior to his election as president, Jovenel never held any political office. He was declared the winner of the votes cast in the November 20 general election in Haiti. While he won with 55 percent, his competitor, Jude Celestin had over 19.57 percent.
Also, Jovenel Moise once served as secretary-general of the chamber of commerce in northern Haiti.

Her Mother was an Advocate for Women’s Rights and Children’s Well-Being while Serving as First Lady
During her reign as the First Lay, Moïse’s mother was focused on promoting the schemes that aided in the well-being of children and birth certification accessible. She was also an advocate for women’s rights and led several campaigns to end violence against women.
Martine also worked as the president of the coordination of Global Fund and Dondasyon Klere Ayiti.
Based on her Twitter handle, Jomarlie seems to be a peace advocate also. She is often seen sharing quotes about peace and justice, especially for her deceased father.
Jomarlie Moïse’s Father was Shot Twelve Times
On July 7th, 2021, while resting at about 1 a.m, Moïse’s family was attacked by gunmen in their private residence in Pèlerin 5, a district of Pétion-Ville. According to her mother, the whole house was ransacked before the gunmen assassinated the president who was lying on the floor at that time.
The Haitian president’s body was riddled with 12 bullets and his eyes were reportedly blown out. Also, only the president and his wife were shot during the attack and none of his security detail was injured.
During the attack, Jomarlie was said to be at home but she hid in her brother’s bedroom the whole time.
Her mother was also shot but she was lucky to survive after she was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami for treatment.
According to reports, the assassination was linked to Jovenel’s efforts to end narcotics trafficking and expose some of the government officials that were involved in the Haitian drug trade.
Later on, Haiti’s National Police reported they killed three of the suspected assailants and arrested 16 others. Also, the police alleged that a group of foreign mercenaries comprising 26 Colombians and two Haitian Americans carried out the killing.
Although Jomarlie Moïse’s father was seen as an uncompromising and headstrong fellow, he was widely criticized for his vehement intolerance of dissent and political opposition and also his attempt to remain in power for long.
The Haitian and her siblings fled the country after their father was assassinated.
While her brother, Jovenel Jr. has petitioned to join the investigation regarding the murder of their father, Jomarlie and Joverlein have continued to seek justice for the murder of their father on social media.
