Jett Hamilton Roberts is the son of singer, songwriter, model, poet, and actress, Jill Scott. He is the product of a relationship between the Why Did I Get Married? actress and popular drummer Lil John Roberts.

How His Parents Met
There is no detail indicating when, where, and how Roberts’ parents met, but, on 20th June 2008, the pair were said to have shared a kiss at a concert in New York’s Carnegie Hall. They went ahead to announce to the gathering that they were engaged. However, the engagement didn’t materialize into a marriage as they split just two months after Jett was born. His mother revealed on 23rd June 2009 that she and her son’s father have broken up.

Jett’s mother didn’t bear a child during her first marriage with graphic designer Lyzel Williams. Therefore, having him was the most amazing thing that’s ever happened to her, she said.
His mother found out she was pregnant with him when she was leaving for Bostwana to film a show. She went on to spend the first three months of her pregnancy in Africa filming despite the challenges.
When her son was due, she spent 36 hours in labor before he was born.

3. Though his parents are not together, there are other male figures in his life
Even though the mother and father of the 15 year-old are not together, this didn’t hinder him from having other male figures in his life like Uncle Scott and Uncle Lance. His mother once revealed that Jett has male figures who teach him the basic rules of life like how to fight and also manners, and how to take the trash out. These male figures encourage him to keep it by celebrating him anytime he does those things.
His mother said she never considered herself a single mum because she had a village of friends who were helping her raise her son. Although, she and Jett’s father have agreed to co-parent their son.
4. His mother named her foundation after his great grandmother
Jett’s mother established the Blues Babe Foundation to provide monetary assistance to young minority students to cover their university expenses. This assistance targets students between the ages of 16 and 21 and also those residing in Philadelphia, Camden, and Delaware valley.
The foundation was named after Jett’s great grandmother known as ‘Blue Babe’.
