What Led to Fuller’s Death?
According to reports, the whole drama began on Monday 12th August 2002 at about 11:20 pm when the police were informed by someone that shots were fired by a man around Maryland Parkway and Reno Avenue. The police officer that saw him discovered Fuller matched the description of the suspect, he got out of his car to dialog with him.
Lt. Tom Monahan of the homicide unit revealed that the deceased and the officer started a brawl. Fuller was alleged to have shot the officer in the head and the chest. However, he survived because of the bullet-proof vest he had worn. The police officer who was 32 years old at the time was treated at University Medical Center for a deep graze wound at his temple.
But he wasn’t the only officer that was shot at. Another one arrived at the scene and saw him lying on the ground. Fuller was also said to have shot at the second officer, but the bullet hit the officer’s car windshield and passed across the officer’s shoulder, only chopping off his shirt’s fabric, but didn’t wound him.
Shante Broadus’ brother was said to have fled from the scene and broke into an apartment, holding two men at gunpoint. Sometimes later the hostages escaped from the apartment without a scratch as officers were searching the area for him.
The hostages revealed that Fuller was bleeding from a wound to the arm. But the police didn’t know how he got the wound.
