The 21st century is full of diverse inventions and possibilities. It is now possible to fully transition from male to female and vice versa. This is the case of Izaak Theo Adu who suffered from gender dysphoria for most of his adult life but decided to make a gender change in 2016.

Biography of Izaak Theo Adu

Born Mickailia Ila Adu on the 21st of July 1996 to popular singer Sade Adu and Jamaican music producer Bob Morgan, Mickailia grew up with love all around. Even though his parents were never married, they were in a committed relationship when Mickailia was conceived with Sade moving to the Caribbean while their relationship lasted.

Mickailia was single-handedly raised by her mother who tried all she could to protect her from the public eye but that was never easy due to Sade’s very successful musical career.

Who is his Partner?

Before coming out as a transgender person in 2016, Izaak was already living openly as a lesbian. Izaak has been in a long-term and committed relationship with Emily Margaret Shakeshaft.

Emily is a hairstylist who has been very supportive of Izaak throughout his transition journey. The duo won’t stop gushing about each other on their social media pages sharing several “awwww worthy pictures”. In May 2020, Izaak shared the news of their engagement on his page gushing about how much he loves her.

In May 2021, the pair finally walked got married in a simple and private event. Izaak took to his social media to announce the union.

1. Izaak is Sade’s sole biological child

Sade isn’t one to talk much with the media so it’s hard to decipher what goes through her mind. Nevertheless, after her short relationship with Bob Morgan which produced Mickailia now Izaak, she hasn’t had any other child. Through her relationship with Ian Watts since 2007, she has a stepson.

2. He is a model

Since his transition, Izaak has somewhat become a voice and role model for several trans people all over the world. It isn’t much of a wonder that he now has a successful modeling career under ‘Next Models- a global modeling agency in the fashion industry. He has had the opportunity to work with several big names in the industry including Riccardo and was featured in several prestigious magazines.

3. Izaak Theo is proudly a mama’s boy

Izaak has been very vocal about the strong support system he has had in his mother. He won’t stop eulogizing her on his social media pages. He refers to her as his rock and thanks to her for allowing him to be himself and fighting with him. He has also made several posts about how supportive his mother has been of his transition journey. He refers to her as the Queen of Queens with the purest heart.

4. Transition from Mickailia Ila Adu to Izaak Theo Adu

Before his coming out as trans in the 2016 national coming out day, Izaak has always been a part of the LGBT community. He openly identified as a lesbian with the blessing and support of his family. Despite his publicly coming out, he didn’t complete his transition journey until 2019 when he had a phalloplasty (a plastic surgery to construct a penis).

He began hormone therapy (testosterone treatment) in 2016 and shared that he had to learn over a million things to be where he is today. In a long appreciation post on Instagram, Izaak shared that he had to spend six months in Gloucestershire, the UK recovering from gender-confirming surgery.

When describing the transition journey Izaak has shared that it is very trying, uncomfortable, tiring, painful, emotionally and physically exhausting but in the end, it is freeing and he will always wear his scars with pride.

5. Social Media

While Sade is one to avoid any form of interaction with the media and social media especially. Izaak seems to revel in it. He is very active across several social media platforms with a huge following. On Instagram where he is most active, he has 55k followers and has a YouTube channel with (1.43k subscribers) where he answers questions on his female to male transition.

Most of the time, Izaak uses his page as a medium to encourage other trans people. He acknowledges that being transgender is hard and every day is a struggle but nevertheless, they should never give up and he is always available to chat in case someone is in need of encouragement.
