Hulisani Ravele is a famous South African radio and TV presenter. She is quite famous in the South African media scene as she started building her career in media hosting a long time ago. 1. Hulisani Ravele’s Biography
Hulisani was born Huslisani Cecilia Rivele on the 23rd of January 1988. She was born and raised in Tshiawelo Soweto and is the youngest of two siblings. Hulisani was raised by parents whom she loves and adores so much. Her dad always inspired her to strive for whatever she wanted. Her mum also provided the encouragement she needed to be who she presently is.
Ravele attended both her primary and secondary schools in Johannesburg, South Africa. In 2008, she got a BCom degree in Marketing Management from the University of Johannesburg. She later went on to bag a Bachelor of Arts in Motion Picture Medium from AFDA media school in 2017.
2. An Accident Took Her Dad’s Life
‘Bra Chicks’ as Hulisani used to call her dad was a huge inspiration to his daughter. She remembers him teaching her through actions and with words, to always try to do what she loves. Mr. Ravele taught his daughter Hulisani why it is important to always strive to achieve your heart’s desire and do that which your heart longs for.
Ironically, Mr. Ravele died battling to survive an accident that occurred while he was doing what he loved. Hulisani’s dad was a car repairer and loved to be under cars fixing stuff. Unfortunately, while working under a car, the jag lost balance and fell on him. He battled to survive but unfortunately died in 2014.
3. She Has Been In The Media From The Age Of 9
Hulisani had always had the dream of being a TV presenter from a very young age. She would constantly bug her mother to take her for auditions so she could showcase herself and get an opportunity to.
She then get the chance to when her aunt presented her with an opportunity for an audition which she went for and scaled. This was the beginning of Hulisani’s career and she got to be a presenter on YoTV from the age of 9. By 2008, at the age of 18 and after 8 years with YoTV, she left the show.

After leaving the show that gave her the platform to showcase her skill, Hulisani then got the chance to intern at SABC. This was the perfect opportunity for her to learn more and rebrand herself.
As she transitioned from child-presenter to mainstream media guru, she was employed as a permanent staff of SABC. She then went on to host Vodacom Show on TV and even joined the radio. She worked with Capricorn FM as a co-host for the Saturday Flex show in 2017. Similarly, she also joined the 947 FM team as she got better at her career.
5. Reason Why Hulisani Changed Her Name
As a child presenter, Hulisani was known with her second name ‘Cecelia’ shortened to ‘CC’. However, it was not her wish to be known by that name. Hulisani only had to adopt it because her first name proved difficult for her agent at the time to pronounce.
However, growing up and being more confident and self-aware, she reverted back to her first name. She admitted loving the name more because it shows her roots and now everybody has to learn how to pronounce the name.
6. Hulisani Ravele Has An Interesting Childhood Love Story
While a child presenter, Ravele fell in love with and dated fellow child star, Sydwell ‘Sipho/Psyfo’ Ngwenya. The love birds worked together and their love story grew from there. Hulisani and Sipho dated for 10 years and were even rumored to be getting married at one time. However, that did not happen and they ended their relationship.
By 2018, Hulisani and Sipho ended their decade-long relationship to the dismay of family members and followers. The breakup caused quite a stir as some of her family members stopped speaking to her and fans/followers bullied her on social media.
Hulisani’s family members wanted her to work things out with Sipho but she was supposedly done with the relationship. Furthermore, producer, actor, and musician Sipho got engaged to another woman shortly after the breakup.
7. Is Hulisani Still Single?
As of the beginning of 2021, Hulisani was still single and begging the universe to send her a boyfriend. She believes that although her past relationship did not work out, she still has to try again and as many times as she can. The TV presenter penned down a letter to the universe begging to be sent the man of her dreams through her social media handle.

8. Hulisani Ravele Has Not Been Free From Controversies

Unfortunately for the 36 year-old TV presenter, the issue surrounding her breakup with Psyfo was not the only controversy she had to face. She was in a written battle with Gareth Cliff who wrote a letter to the South African president concerning the covid19 lockdown in 2020.
Hulisani was furious at Gareth’s point of view and responded to him explaining why the lockdown was important. However, she was not the only one who felt the same way as other people responded to the letter as well.
In another story, Ms. Ravele uploaded a topless photo of herself on social media and this got a fan outraged. The follower commented her disapproval of the photo stating that she the presenter had been like a role model to her until then. Hulisani responded by apologizing and explaining that the photo was only an expression of her culture.
9. Hulisani Ravele Ventured Into Other Things
Spending over two decades in the media and entertainment industry is no easy feat, however, Hulisani has proven that it is nothing she can’t handle. She not only thrives in media but has also ventured into other business endeavors.
In 2018, the presenter launched an online talk show titled ‘The Minute With Hulisani Ravele’. The same year, she also launched her unisex boutique business called ‘Studio MoMa’. The boutique was first founded in 2017 by Mpho Sedibe who partnered with Biopelo Nkadimeng and the Hulisani bought into it as well.
10. She Preaches ‘Self-love’

Hulisani is no stranger to bullying and being picked on and so she has grown tough skin. It is also no news that media personalities are wont to be at the receiving end of fans, followers, and spectators’ meanness most times.
Given this, Hulisani took to her social media handle to preach about self-love. She did this in response to an online troll who ridiculed the freckles on her face. She felt the need to respond so that people who are going through any form of bullying would be encouraged to be confident enough to ignore comments and love themselves first.
This is not the only time she is preaching this message, however. She also had to share a similar message when people trolled her when the news of her ex-boyfriend’s marriage got to the media. Hulisani stated that other people’s actions are not always a result of another person.
