Unlike her sister and father, Colette isn’t a Hollywood star yet as she seems to be more interested in other things.

Love and Basketball’s Sanaa Lathan stunned the internet when she uploaded photos of her and her siblings to her social media handle. Frenzied fans and followers gushed about how good they all looked but particularly took interest in Colette Lathan.

Colette Lathan is the last born of the Lathan household and according to the rave by fans, the most beautiful of the siblings. She is one of the aforementioned actress’ siblings and we are all interested in knowing if they share more than the last name.

At 53, Sanaa Lathan still looks quite good and is still doing quite well as an actress. However, Colette is fast rising and in no time, might be the most talked about. She hasn’t been featured in any known movies yet but maybe the 28 year old would eventually get to branch into the industry.

As already hinted, the young Lathan is not an actress like her older sister. She isn’t not following in the footsteps of her famous celebrity relatives. From information gathered by WeAfrique’s research, Lathan is more interested in arts, fashion, and photography.

Born on the 16th of April 1997 to Mr. Stan Lathan and Marguerite Lathan, she attended S.I Newhouse School of Public Communication located in Syracuse. There she studied Television, Radio & Film in 2015 and graduated in 2019.

Lathan has skills in design, photoshop, adobe, Microsoft, public speaking, and a lot more. She also has several publications out on Vineyard Gazette which date as far back as 2014. She is also bilingual as she speaks English and French Languages.

Apart from her college courses studied, Colette also had courses in Advertising, communication and Society, and Multimedia Storytelling. In January of 2019, the young graduate was honored with a slot to attend the Sundance Ignite Program where she was sent alongside four students by her college.

Sanaa Lathan was born on September 19, 1971, to Stan Lathan and his first wife, Eleanor McCoy. Her parents were married from 1970 to 1977 and during their marriage, they bore a kid together.

The Love and Basketball star is purportedly the first child of Stan Lathan. However, he has another son named Tendaji Lathan, a DJ who was born on October 20, 1971. Tendaji and Sanaa do not seem to have the same mother though.

On an Instagram post, the young man posted a picture of him and a woman who goes by the name Gail Davis. He wished her a happy birthday and called her mum in the caption of the photo. The Instagram handle belonging to the aforementioned woman also has a picture of her and Tendaji together smiling.

However, Colette has two other sisters born to her father and mother, Marguerite Lathan. Stan and Marguerite got married in 1982 and have three daughters together. The names of her siblings are Arielle and Liliane Lathan. Liliane is her older sister who is a renowned photographer and was born on June 9, 1984.

Arielle is Colette’s immediate elder sister who was born on May 22, 1985. Not so much is known about her though as she is a very private person. Nonetheless, it is known that Arielle is a childhood educator who lives in California.

Colette Lathan has in her large family, two actresses, a film director and producer, an A-list photographer, and a DJ who works at reputable events and shows. Of her family, she and her immediate elder sister Arielle, seem to be the only ones who do not rub shoulders with Hollywood celebrities.

Sanaa began to make waves after her role in Love and Basketball shot her to fame. This was one of her first movies and although she felt miserable while filming the movie, its eventual success cannot be overemphasized.

Soon after, Stan’s oldest daughter got roles in other notable movies such as Brown Sugar, Something New, Now You See Me 2, and Nappily Ever After, to name a few.

Colette’s father, Stan Lathan was a two-time Grammy Award director and a three-time Primetime Emmy Awards recipient. He also has a Tony Award, Peabody Award, and 6 NAACP Image Awards to his name.

Stan is the executive producer and director of BET’s Real Husbands of Hollywood. He is also credited for the direction and production of several comedy specials with the likes of Dave Chappelle.

Her Step brother and photographer sister have also worked with and for big names in the music and movie industry. Liliane has been on several red carpets and covered memorable moments of several celebrities over the years.

Eleanor McCoy, the mother of her oldest sister was also an actress and dancer who used to perform on Broadway. There are however other celebrity siblings who are not particularly doing the same thing as their siblings but are successful nonetheless. A great example is Rorrey Fenty, the famous pop singer, Rihanna’s brother.
