The group comprises Young Miami and JT was established in 2017 and has grown to be one of the hottest all-female rap groups in the industry. So far, they have released a couple of albums including their best songs like Twerkulator, and Fuck That Nigga which enjoyed massive airplay. The all-girl group made its first appearance on the music scene in 2017 when they recorded their first studio track titled Fuck Dat Nigga. They promoted it by paying DJs to play it in different clubs and through social media. It was included in Quality Control’s compilation album, Control the Streets Volume 1. They released the official video in 2018 where Rapper, Trina made an appearance. That marked the beginning of success in the Music Industry.

The Duo has a net worth of $3 Million, $1.5 million each. Based on this figure, it clearly shows that no one is richer than the other.

The Duo is currently signed to Quality Control Music, an American Hip Hop Label founded by Kevin Lee aka Coach K, and Pierre Thomas aka P in March 2013. They signed the City Girls to the label in 2017 after their single “Fuck That Nigga” went viral. They have currently produced a total of four albums for the City Girls and have featured in songs by Drake, 21 Savage, and Bhad Bhabie.

The duo also individually have businesses. reports claim that JT is the “unofficial spokesperson” for McDonald’s while Yung Miami was an influencer who promoted many brands on her page before becoming a rapper. She also owns a wig line called “Caresha Collection” which also sells clothes and shoes.

One of the major avenues artists make money is from online music streaming platforms such as Audiomack, Spotify, and Youtube among many others.

On Youtube, the City Girls have over 780 million views which do not come as a surprise seeing how they have won the hearts of the public with their style of music.

There are different assumptions as to how much Youtube pays per view. while some claim Youtube pays $0.5 per 1000 views, others claim it pays about $3 per 1000 views. Using the latter price, The City Girls might have made a whopping $2,340,000 from Youbue views alone.

Spotify

Spotify is an online Music Steaming Platform, and just like youtube, It pays based on the number of streams an artist has. Based on estimation, it is said that an artist makes up to $1 on every 250 streams on Spotify.

The City girls have an average of 6.2 million views on the Music Streaming platform monthly. By the estimated revenue per stream,  they earn about $24,800 per month.

Audiomack

Audiomack is another Music streaming platform that is similar to Spotify. it also pays based on monthly streams. it is calculated by dividing the revenue from adverts and subscriptions by the total of streams the artist has gotten in the month.

The City Girls has over 22,000 followers, 222,000 monthly listeners and over a million total plays. since the calculations are not fixed we cannot ascertain how much they make exactly from this platform monthly.

1. The Duo have been Friends since they were Kids 

Yung Miami, born Caresha Romeka Brownlee was born on the 11th of February 1994. She is a single mother of two, and JT, born Jatavia Shakara Johnson on the 3rd of December 1992. They were both born and raised in Miami, Florida.

The Duo has been friends since middle school. They grew up in suburbs in Miami; Opa-Locka and Liberty City. They both had parent issues as JT’s Mother struggled with addiction while Yung Miami’s Mother was convicted and had to serve time in prison for Hit-and-run Charges.

They attended Carol City Middle School in Miami Gardens, Florida. It was there that they met and became friends and before they graduated High School, they were inseparable.

After High School, they began to perform as a group at Strip clubs, Night Clubs, and Block Parties.

2. Yung Miami is Dating Rapper, P Diddy

Yung Miami is said to be dating the 52-year-old notorious Bachelor, Sean Combs popularly known as P Diddy. This was confirmed in an Episode of Miami’s new podcast after over a year of speculation.

Diddy recently lost his Baby Mama with whom he shared 3 children while the city girls member lost her Baby Daddy a few months Prior.

Her new show is sponsored by P Diddy’s tequila brand and produced by his platform, Revolt.

3. Young Miami has started a Podcast

Caresha Romeka Brownlee also known as Yung Miami has launched a podcast titled “Caresha Please”. It is a show where the biggest names in hip hop have wild and unfiltered conversations about their lives, relationships, families, and career.

The episode where she featured P Diddy was number one on Apple Podcasts.

4. JT is an Ex-convict

In 2018, JT was convicted of credit card fraud and identity theft and was sentenced to 2 years in prison. While she was serving her time, Yung Miami held the fort for the City Girls, performed solo, and promoted their music alone. In an interview with The Fader, Yung Miami said she went to strip clubs and would pay the DJ to play their song.

JT was released from prison in March and that same day, the group released their track “JT First Day Out”. In the song, JT shouted out to her City Girl for life for holding the fort while she was locked away in prison.

5. Yung Miami was caught in a Homophobic Controversy

In 2013, before she became known as Yung Miami, Caresha tweeted that if her son decides to be gay, she’d beat the hell out of him. In 2018 when asked about her statement by the host of The Breakfast Club, she said she wasn’t talking about the LGBTQ+ community but just about her son. She emphasized that if she saw anything gay in her son, she would beat it out.

However, After the interview, she publicly apologized for her statement and acknowledged it was indeed homophobic seeing the role Black gay men played in the group’s rise to fame.

The City Girls started from the suburbs of Miami and have made their way to the very top and they are not relenting. Sooner than later we hope to see them winning the Grammys and fulfilling their dreams.
