Who Is Tanisha Foster?
She is the baby mama of American rapper Ermias Joseph Asghedom popular known as Nipsey Hussle. Her relationship with the rapper during his lifetime did not get as much attention as the legal battle she had with his family over custody of the child she shared with him, Emani Asghedom.
Tanisha knew Nipsey from way back before he attained fame. The baby mama was born on May 17th, 1985. Details about her early life and other members of her family are quite sketchy.
Her Relationship With Nipsey Hussle
Tanisha and Hussle were a romantic item at one point in the iconic rapper’s life. They met in 2004 and were together before he became one of the west coast’s best rappers.
The two were probably deeply in love at one point in his life before he moved on in his career and love life. Tanisha adopted part of his nickname to become China Hussle and is still using it to show her loyalty to Nipsey Hussle.
She gave birth to his daughter, Emani on November 9th, 2008 but their relationship hit the rocks shortly after that.
Tanisha Foster Lost Custody of Her Daughter to Hussle’s Family
The gruesome murder of Nipsey Hussle did not end the saga of his life. Tanisha and his family clashed over the custody of Emani, their daughter just six months after Nipsey’s death on March 31st, 2019.
The then ten-year-old had been living with her father at the time of his death and his family decided to have her custody. His family wanted custody on the grounds that Tanisha could not provide a stable and safe environment for the young Emani.
The court gave custody to the dead rapper’s family leaving out Tanisha, the biological mother of the child. His sister, Samantha Smith who is named the legal guardian, and other members of the family had been part of Emani’s life while her father was still alive.

1. Tanisha Foster had a Joint Custody Agreement with Nipsey Hussle Before his Death
Long before the battle lines were drawn for Emani’s custody, Tanisha already had an order in place for joint custody of Emani with Nipsey. The order which was signed in 2013 granted joint custody of their daughter to both parents.
As per the arrangement, Nipsy had Emani during the weekends while Tanisha had her weekdays.
Shockingly, this became an issue after the rapper’s death. Whether Samantha wanted the petition done secretly is not so clear.
2. Tanisha’s Daughter Stayed with Samantha Smith After her Father’s Death
Tanisha may have lost the custody battle even before Nipsey’s body became cold after the gunshot wound that killed him. Her daughter, Emani moved in with Nipsey’s sister, Samantha Smith making her an unwelcome guest in the young girl’s life.
Samantha was also granted custody of Emani by the courts.
3. She Didn’t Attend Hussle’s Memorial Service
Despite her claims of love for the dead rapper, many people observed her absence at his memorial service.
The two-time Grammy winner’s memorial was attended by an estimated 21 thousand mourners including celebrities like Jay-Z, Beyonce, and Stevie Wonder among many others.
Interestingly, Tanisha never gave any reasons for her absence, yet she later posted an update on April 21, 2019, on her Instagram page showing her love for him.
4. Tanisha Foster Became Broke After the Death of Her Baby-daddy
Apart from being maligned by the Asghedom family after Hussle’s death, Tanisha’s living also came under fire. In her statements during the custody battle, Foster claimed to have been put up by her baby-daddy while he was still alive. Yet, his family wanted nothing to do with her.
He was said to have paid for her apartment but this changed after his death leaving Tanisha broke and unable to pay her rent and bills.
5. The Judge Cleared the Court to Allow Tanisha some Time with Her Daughter
In a May 2019 court appearance for the battle over custody of then ten-year-old Emani, Tanisha broke down in tears prompting the judge to clear the courts for 20 minutes.
At the time the mother had not seen her child for some months and the judge’s action allowed her to see her young daughter for some time.
6. Tanisha’s Daughter, Emani may Get Half of his $2 Million Estate
Death is a painful thing, especially for a young child. While surviving parents and guardians are at war over the custody of Emani, sources claim, she stands a chance of getting half of her late father’s over $2 million.
The other half will go to Kross Asghedom, Nipsey’s child with Lauren London.

7. Her Baby-daddy’s Girlfriend won Guardianship of her own Child
While Tanisha was outrightly denied custody of the child she shared with Nipsey, his girlfriend at the time of his death, Lauren London won hers.
A different county court allowed London to be the legal guardian of her son, Kross Ermias Asghedom who was only three years old at the time. Allowing her to be her son’s guardian also meant she will have privileges regarding Hussle’s estate.
8. She Had Clashes with The Law
Tanisha has issues with the law even before the custody battle over her daughter began. The most recent one warranted an arrest on sight order after she failed to show up for a court appearance.
The court appearance was for a DUI charge back in 2018 but when she didn’t show up for a hearing, an order for her arrest was issued. As it is, it sparked off her other law infringement problems.
She had been arrested for disturbing the peace back in 2006. This repeated itself in 2007 again after she complicated the arrest with vandalism and phone calls that were considered inappropriate.
9. Eric Holder is Charged with Hussle’s Death
Hussle was gruesomely shot in 2019 right in front of his store, Marathon Clothing. His attacker kicked him in the head at the scene and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
A man named Eric Holder was charged with the murder.
10. Where is Tanisha Foster Now?
She is alive and kicking going by her social media updates. There are sources that claim she has other children apart from Emani.
At the moment there are only speculations about the number of children she has. She likely gave birth to her last baby in 2020.
