Marriage is bound to fail when a partner becomes abusive toward the order. It is far more worst when it turns physical. A negative effect of physical abuse is that the victims often lose their self-confidence and image. This is no different from what Letoya Mkhene the popular South African actress, singer, and TV star suffered at the hands of the man she called her husband.

Victims of abuse in marriages, especially physical, are advised in most cases to walk out, lest they die in it. That is the advice the Generations: The Legacy actress took after 9 years of marriage to her Zimbabwean husband, Privilage Mangezi.

She was born on 7th September 1984 in South Africa and gained fame for appearing in one of South Africa’s popular soap operas Generations: The Legacy. Her career first started on the silver screen as a host in the debut season of Idols South Africa.

Mkhene went on training for more than a few months to be a traditional healer. However, she quit practicing to feature Generations: The Legacy. In the opera, she played the role of the infamous gangster wife of Kumkani Phakade (Gadaffi), as well as Tau Mogale’s sister till late 2019.

Singing was her thing ever since she was knee-high to a grasshopper. She announced her presence in South Africa’s music scene at the age of 7 as one of Brenda Fassie’s backup singers. Other players she has collaborated with include; DJ Cleo, Dj Qness, and DJ Chynman.

What Started Their Marriage Woes

According to reports, the union between the actress and her Zimbabwean husband lasted for almost a decade before it hit the rocks. However, there is little or no detail about when they started dating.
Their marriage was said to be going smoothly until her husband Letoya Makhene husband got kicked from his job. He lost his job because of immigration disputes.

Following the job loss, Mkhene took full responsibility for the family. She didn’t see it as a big issue to take care of bills and provide for them. Nonetheless, Mangezi didn’t appreciate her efforts, instead, he became frustrated and insecure.

He couldn’t handle the frustrations, so, he turned her into a punching bag.

Letoya Makhene husband started arguing unnecessarily over insignificant things with her. Since the argument didn’t work, he started abusing her, turning her into a punching bag. The pains she endured at his hands made her dread him. So, she lost her poise.

The actress because traumatized to the extent that she couldn’t keep her high anymore. In fact, it was difficult to look at people in the face whenever they talk to her.

Initially, she never nursed the idea of letting go until a certain day when she was having a conversation with a sick man. And her husband walks in and demanded to have a word with her immediately. As embarrassing as it was, he didn’t allow her to conclude.

That behavior got to her last nerve, so she went looking for a lawyer to help push their divorce secretly. She didn’t want members of their family to tell her otherwise.

Though she admits to cheating on her husband with another man who treated her with respect. She revealed the truth about the affair to her husband, who pardoned her. So, the pair gave their marriage a second chance. She subsequently changed her mind after he abused her again. And the marriage finally came to an end.

Despite the chaos in the marriage, the pair shared three kids; Nubia, Tadiwa, and Tamuda. All three were said to be living with her. Though, it is whether the kids still have a relation with a father. In addition, no one knows if Mangezi is still South Africa or has gone back to Zimbabwe.

She Met Tshepo Leeuw

After he divorce, the actress gave love another chance. It was revealed that she started dating Tshepo Leeuwin in 2016. But, she announced him as her boyfriend in 2017. She went on to have a child with him, named Kopano Jorden. So, she became a mother of four.

There were indications that the pair were making marriage plans. Most people thought this may work for her, but everything change in 2020 when she announced that she has become a lesbian.

Speculations began to spring up that she was in a relationship with another woman. She confirmed the rumors by revealing her partner’s name as Lebo Keswa, who is a businesswoman.

Mkhene Walked Down the Aisle with Lebo Keswa In December 2020. The two got married 3 days to Christmas on 22nd December 2020. The wedding ceremony was traditionally held at Moletsane Sports Complex in Soweto, with their family members and close friends gracing the occasion.

Two months prior to the wedding, Lebo proposed to her on hot a balloon air ride. During the ride up in the sky, a banner spread with these words, “Letoya, will you marry?” The tearful actress accepted.

Mkhene revealed that she chose Lebo because she was good in bed. Though many attacked her for her choice, she doesn’t seem to care.
