Bandmanrill was born Sirill Pettus on August 17, 2002. He was born in Newark, New Jersey, United States of America.
His father was a DJ who had a connection with DJ Wallah. The older Mr. Pettus used to play house music at small events and home activities and would sometimes work with the HOT 97 DJ Wallah.
When he wasn’t out working, Bandman’s dad would play music in the basement of their house all day.
Growing up in such an environment and with 11 siblings, all boys, he and 10 of his other siblings swiftly turned towards music and the rap genre, in particular.
Bandman attended Maple from kindergarten until 5th grade. Though his other schools are not public knowledge yet, he was still a dedicated student as at when his fame rose and began to spread.

The COVID-19 pandemic was the era that saw a lot of talents unveil and people found widespread fame. Bandmanrill is one of such people who utilized the unfortunate period to his advantage.
When schools were on break and he couldn’t continue with his other outdoor activities, the New Jersey rapper took to social media. He joined trends and challenges and soon began to amass a legion of followers.
One thing that made him stand out was the fact that for his trends, he jumped on high, upbeat, club sounds. Soon, many people on TikTok knew and associated what is now known as the Jersey Club sound, with him. Even though there were others who had jumped on the same trend before the Newark rapper, he was the one successful enough to make it a hit.
It would interest you to know that before music and the Jersey Club sound fame, Sirill spent a great deal of his time trying out his comedy skills on TikTok. He was basically making jokes about his area and surroundings.
2. His First Song Earned Him Massive Recognition in 2021
As Bandmanrill’s fame started to grow and he was gaining traction, he tried music. He had begun making music in 2020 but those were mainstream rap music.
In an interview, he revealed that he was talking to Du5 who asked him why nobody had tried rapping on club beat.
At the time, there weren’t many club beats with bridges and hooks. Those music beats were just meant for dancing. However, there have been new introductions that allow for breaks and opportunities to rap.
With his love for rap and club music, the rapper then decided to try something. He heard a song which brought back fond memories for him and so he decided to make a song from it.
Bandman went into his closet, played the beat, spent about 15 minutes saying random things into the microphone, and came out with the song ‘Heartbroken’.
Interestingly, at the time he recorded this song, he had COVID. A day after he got well from the virus, Heartbroken went viral on TikTok after its release and that was the beginning of rapping over club beats for Bandmarill.
3. He Would’ve been a Boxer, Music Aside
The Heartbroken singer revealed that he was spending a lot of time in the gym before music happened. He was a boxer and his after-school activity was sparring in the gym.
When the pandemic shut down all outdoor activities, he found solace in music and viola! his newfound career.
However, he also revealed that if he could choose between music and boxing, he would go back to boxing.

The Real Hips (2022) singer decided that he no longer wants to be Bandmanrill and he simply wants to remain Bandman.
Although the ‘rill’ in his stage name was derived from his real name ‘Sirill’, it also represents the ‘drill’ form of music.
Initially, the young rapper was known as a Jersey club and drill artist. But his decision to disassociate himself from the drill music came as a result of how he is often misjudged.
People who do drill music are often looked upon with suspicion and weirdly and Sirill didn’t want that type of identity. Now, he wants to simply be known as a Jersey Club musical artist.
5. He is Signed to Warner Music Group
In 2022, Bandman signed a recording deal with Warner Music Group and that was where he recorded and released a lot of his recent music and EP.
He has released projects such as Copy and Paste, Influence, Jiggy in Jersey, and more, under this record label.
Additionally, the rapper released his album titled Club Godfather under Warner Music Group. The album has 13 tracks which are all evidence that he isn’t a one-hit wonder when it comes to making banging club-sound music.

6. Bandman Works Closely with another Young Newark Producer
From the very first single which propelled him into fame and stardom, the Newark Jersey Club rap artist found himself a producer and said he would never let go.
He has chosen young New Jersey producer, MCVertt to be his producer because he relates better with the beats from him.
They became friends when the producer was about 16 years old and have remained close ever since. On Club Godfather, MCVertt is responsible for 7 of the songs released.
In fact, both of them are almost inseparable as they produce magic in sounds.
