South African soul singer, Vusi Nova, has been through a lot since his rise to fame through his music career. He has had to allay several rumors and controversies ranging from fraud to his sexuality and even health issues.

Vusi Nova was born on September 23, 1984, in New Brighton, Township, Port Elizabeth, South Africa. He grew up in Gqueberha but moved to Johannesburg when he was 14 years old. This was when he realized that he had to pursue his singing talent.
At the time, after moving to Jo-burg, he signed a deal with the Muthaland Record label. While there, he released his first studio album titled Walk Into Light and Did It For Love.
Vusi Nova’s real name is Vusimuzi Nongxa and he recently started using the stage name Snova.
2. He has a Brother who is an Actor
The soul singer has a brother named Sisa Hewana who is an actor. His brother has acting credits in Isidingo where he played the character of Skhumbuzo ‘Ace’ Nzimande. The actor also played Loyiso on the first season of Isono and Derrick on Season 5 of The Queen.
3. He Left Muthaland Entertainment after 10 Years
Snova was signed to Muthaland Entertainment for 10 years after which he left the record label. Upon his exit from Muthaland, the singer started his own record label known as Nova Sounds.

5. Vusi Nova has Had Quite a Number of Health Scares
Several times, Vusi Nova, also known as Snova, has had health scares in recent times. The singer who keeps his fans and followers abreast of his experiences and activities, once shared on his Instagram handle that he had been diagnosed with high blood pressure.
He was hospitalized after feeling bad and attributing it to fatigue.
Upon his visit to the hospital, the doctors revealed that there was the potential threat of a heart attack.
The singer posted that he was grateful and relieved that he was doing a lot better despite having to be on high blood pressure medications.
He seized the opportunity to advise people to take their health seriously. Seeing that he hadn’t had a previous health scare and was living like he was still very young, he didn’t believe that he would be going through something as serious as high blood pressure.
Early in 2019, he landed in the hospital for a panic attack. He couldn’t breathe and had to battle stress and anxiety. During the time spent in the hospital, Vusi realized that he needed to calm down with work and all.
6. The Soul Singer has Been Accused of Fraud
In 2018, reports started making rounds that the soul singer was arrested for fraud and money laundering. The gist was that he stole the single, his hit song, As’phelelanga.
He responded to the accusation by saying he never claimed to own the song and as it was a public chant, he had the free will to do whatever he wanted to do with the song.
7. He was Once Kidnapped
In the same year Vusi won his Best Afro Album and Best Male Albums, he fell victim to a brief kidnap. The singer revealed that he was kidnapped outside his house in Johannesburg.
Snova stated that he was attacked by 4 armed men who took him away for about an hour before dropping him off at a road where he was finally able to reach out for help and report to the police station.
8. Vusi Nova has a Stint on Reality TV
Back in 2021, the South African singer made a screen debut as one of the judges on the second season of Amazing Voices.
Aside from that, the singer also hinted at something huge coming in 2023. The rumor that began to spread was that he would begin his own reality TV in a couple of months.
Given his reputation in the South African music industry, this stint in TV would not be far-fetched because Nova has garnered a great number of fans.

Vusi Nova has been severally accused of being gay since 2014 when a supposed relationship with Joseph Saphra began to make waves.
Back then, it was even rumored that he was planning a gay wedding with the man.
He however tried to calm those rumors by stating that he had a special lady in his life.
That didn’t do quite much because his relationship with his best friend, Somizi Mhlongo who is gay has caused more speculations.
The best friends share a lot of loved-up photos together and this has led people to truly question Nova’s sexuality.
Snova has repeatedly debunked these rumors despite initially choosing to ignore them. He has even gone the extra mile to share pictures of himself and his lover in order to allay the speculations.

10. Vusi Nova has Survived 2 Car Accidents
On February 8, 2020, Vusi was in a car accident that crashed his Mercedes Benz as he was on his way to the airport. He escaped the crash unhurt and posted a video on his social media to celebrate this.
3 years later, in March 2023, he was also involved in another car crash. He was on his way from his best friend’s 50th birthday celebration to another gig when he and his crew had the accident.
Yet again, he and his crew survived with little and no injuries.
