Nonka whose real name is Thuthuka Mthembu was born on the 28^th of October 1998 in Johannesburg, South Africa. She was brought up by her single mother and her grandmother.

Thuthuka attended Umlazi Commercial High School and then upon graduation, went on to Durban University of Technology.
